Sweden Running Out of Trash, Imports from Norway

Sweden has just imported 881 thousand tons from Norway to satisfy its national hunger for trash.

So why is the Scandinavian country so desperate for garbage?  Because it burns the resource in high power incinerators to produce electricity.   And like the monster plant in "The Little Shop of Horrors" movie, the country keeps screaming out for more.

So, Sweden's found a good way to lower its environmental impact, right?  Imagine greatly reducing, perhaps even eliminating the need for dirty fossil fuels. That must make the global warming types happy.

But here's something to wipe that smile off their faces.  The resulting ash can be more chemically potent than the original garbage.  But that's not Sweden's problem.  They just ship the residue back to Norway.  I guess it's part of the deal.
