Teacher's Aid Warned Not to Eat Organic Food in Front of Kids
Most of us think of Hawaii as a kind of paradise. Well, now there's trouble in paradise for a young educator who was only trying to eat healthy.
24 year-old Carissa Lee O'Connell used to suffer from severe nasal allergies. Then four months ago her husband, Rick, started preparing raw, natural organic lunches for her to enjoy at work.
The allergies disappeared instantly, but they were recently replaced by sleeping problems. You see, O'Connell isn't sure how much longer she'll keep her job, especially after making the matter public.
Here's what it says, right on the schools' website. "Exposing children to new foods, those that are different than foods normally provided at home, is part of the wonderful world of preschool." The site also uses a term designed to stifle any alternative view — best practices.
Staff normally eat with the students family style to further the indoctri ... excuse me, training on approved foods. It wouldn’t do to expose impressionable kids to organic lunches with no genetically modified ingredients. Uh-uh.
So if O'Connell wants to continue eating healthy, what are her options? According to Preschools president Christina Cox, she can either eat lunch during a ten minute break or while the kids are taking a nap.
