Christy's Healthy Holiday Tips

1. Decide what you are and are not going to eat. Once you have made a commitment, it is much easier to choose healthy foods.

2. Eat well at home. Then you can splurge a little more when you are out.

3. Avoid fast food

4. Enjoy fruit smoothies to satisfy your sweet tooth.

5. Stay hydrated. Drink water with lemon or lime, drink hot tea with honey or stevia.

6. Let the people around you know that you are trying to eat healthier this holiday season. They may be encouraged to do the same. No one wants to end up seven pounds heavier in January.

7. Search the Internet for delicious healthy recipes. Enjoy making and eating them. Begin to save your favorite healthy recipes so you can enjoy them again.

8. Savor your favorite treats once in a while, but eat smaller portions. Create healthier versions of the foods you most enjoy.

9. When going to a party, eat a healthy meal before you go, and bring a new healthy dish to share. Keep your favorite tea bags with you at all times so you can make something warm and satisfying. Choose fresh foods from the buffet rather than cooked, and avoid thick dairy based sauces and dips.

10. Focus on holiday activities that you enjoy other than baking. Make crafts, see plays, play games with your family, create memories that will last…

11. Take a walk once a day and breathe deeply.
