We are living in unstable times. Every where we turn there is unrest.
The latest reports of America's economic future sure don't offer us any
stability. Add to that the upcoming elections. I believe we are facing
the most crucial presidential election in our country's history. Turn
on any news channel and there are reports of devastating floods,
hurricanes, tornadoes, and devastating firestorms. Pregnant mothers are
being murdered by their husbands the very ones who are called to love
and protect them! Children are being abducted never to be found again
or even worse murdered by their own parents! Terrorist groups are still
alive and well in America and people are fighting about border control?
I don't know about you, but I find no stability in the world
around me. Everything is turned upside down, what was once considered
"good" is now called "evil" and what was once considered "evil" is now
called "good"! Most Americans are looking to the government for their
stability. As my pastor said in yesterday's sermon "Americans have made
money their god". We have put our hope and trust in our government
systems. The government was set up to work "by the people, for the
people". To give order to our society, not to control our personal
lives.
To whom or what do you look to for stability? Is it in
your education, career, bank account, stocks, bonds, marriage,
friendships, family? Education is great, but no matter how many degrees
you have, when disaster hits or when your world seems to be falling
apart at the seams, education offers little stability. Is it your
career? no career is etched in stone there will always be lay offs,
unemployment rates, forced early retirement, companies going bankrupt,
no job offers guaranteed stability. Maybe you find stability in your
stocks and bonds, have you watched the news in the last week? What
about your marriage, while we must work extra hard to protect this
covenant and this should be an area in our lives that offers the most
securirty and stablility; things happen inside a marriage that leave us
feeling insecure and strip us of jour sense of stability. Our
friendships? While we all need friends and we must nurture and work at
friendships sometimes for no apparent reason these to can be lost. In
our family? The family is the fabric of any nation, when the family
begins to unravel the nation is not far to follow, as we have witnessed
in our own nation over the past several decades. In your role as Mom?
Children grow up and leave home to pursue their own lives as they
should, what then?
Some of the these relationships do offer us
a temporary sense of stability, but if we rely solely in any of the
above, we are missing the greatest source of stability ever offered to
mankind. Jesus Christ is the only One who can give you complete
stability and security. His peace, power and promises will not fail!
His word is Truth, He is forever faithful, He will never leave you nor
forsake you. He is the One we should place our trust and faith in, not in any government system, political party, money, or person.
Are
you in need of stability and security? Will you put your hope, faith
and trust in the only one who can offer TRUE stability, Jesus Christ?
God is offering you life, abundant and free in His Son Jesus Christ.
Will you accept His offer today? John 14:6 "I am THE way, THE truth,
THE life, no man can come to the Father, except by me" John 16:33 These
things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the
world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome
the world. John 3:16 - For God so loved the
world that He send His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in
Him would not perish, but have eternal life. Psalm 18:2
- The LORD [is] my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my
strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my
salvation, [and] my high tower. Ps. 27:5 -For in the time of trouble he
shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he
hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
